The wood settlement:

Because the cellular composition of the wood, below about 24% of humidity wood, all the free water contained by the cells has disappeared and now even the water from the cells wall is the one that is evaporating. Based on this value, the drying phenomenon continuing, the cell diameter will decrease and consequently the sizes of the wooden pieces would deacresed in the same way. It's what we call wood shrinkage, shrinkage which causes a settlement of the walls.
This settlement will be less if the beams are delivered dry.
lamellar glued wood which was dried in in accelerated rhythm (in drying chamber) before gluing, it trains a settlement of 2 - 3 times smaller than wood which has been dried simply, to fresh air.

For the processing wood , there must be provided a wall settlement as following :

Processed beams: from 2-4 cm / m of height (wich means from 5 to 10 cm to 2.5 m height)
Glued beams: from 1-3 cm / m of height (wich means from 2.5 to 7.5 to 2.5 m height)
